indigenous chicana, genízara
(Genízaros were detribalized Native Americans who, through war or payment of ransom, were enslaved by Hispano settlers.)
hi! My full name is Gabriella but friends call me Gabby. I am a bestselling illustrator, artist and gardener. I spent a lot of my childhood on a haunted flower farm in Southern Colorado. It was hot there and I got bored. I drew a lot, and kept myself occupied with elaborate daydreams and ghost stories. Eventually I found myself wanting to tell stories with images and I’ve been doing it ever since, using whatever medium fits best. Illustration and animation has been my preferred method for several years now. I currently live in New Orleans and am always looking for new ways to tell familiar stories with childlike enthusiasm.
